Konoha Advent Chapter 5

Time seemed to drag as they traveled, collecting clues and reporting to whichever Younin came to them. Whatever puzzle existed was being pieced together by Nadil in the security of Safehouse Nine in the shadows of Hidden Grass Village. Caine could almost taste the frustration of the Intelligence Agent as she went through each missive containing new orders and information. The information the Kakashi had retrieved from the prisoner had only served to solidify whatever scheme that Nadil had unearthed, and whatever it was, Nadil was not speaking of it except, perhaps, to the Hokage.



Soundscape Chapter 33

Entering Sound Country was simple enough, though dodging the patrols was the main difficulty for the team. Naruto’s face usually expressive face had smoothed into an unreadable expression of impassivity, the tensing of the skin at the corners of his eyes and the clenching of his jaws were the only signs of his unease.



Yamato, knowing that the blonde had his communicator on at all times, wondered vaguely how the boy could be receiving any reports when the entire group was quite obviously out of radio range with Konoha. Of course, it wouldn’t surprise the ANBU Captain if the Hunter was constantly in radio range with someone who was in radio range of someone else back in Konoha, creating an elaborate relay system for the Hunters so they need not rely on messenger beasts which were often slow and rarely, though occasionally unreliable where carrying messages were concerned.



“Stop thinking so much,” Naruto’s voice said suddenly.



Yamato flinched. Naruto sighed, “Just stop thinking so much. Your chakra is projecting your feelings, and it is distracting.”



Yamato blinked and flushed when he realized that somewhere along the lines, he’d lost his grip on his chakra. “Right. Sorry,” he apologized, reeling in his chakra.

Soundscape Chapter 32

Terms to Know:

Imprint-An Imprint is the echo of the Oracle’s soul. Every time an Oracle attempts a major working, they leave an Imprint in the Collective. Over time, multiple Imprints from a single Oracle merge together because they are shadows of the same soul. Imprints can assist an Oracle in a major working if the Oracle taps the Collective. The story of an Imprint can be read by any Kazama so long as they have a strong enough gift of Insight.

Collective-A Collective is a secondary world, one that is purely spiritual and mental, in which the Imprints of previous Oracles reside. The Collective is basically a spiritual library that can be tapped by an Oracle.

Insight-The Insight is a weak and incomplete version of the Yochigan. Based on the amount of spiritual power a Kazama possesses, the Insight can be clear to the point of being actual visions or it can be nothing more than a gut feeling. The stronger the Insight is in a Kazama, the closer they are to gaining the Yochigan, and with it, attaining the Oracle status.

Shadow Sacrifice-A form of Shamanic Sorcery in which a person becomes a living scapegoat doll to take upon themselves the ill fortune that would befall their charges. It is the Bloodline Limit of the Magami Clan.

Parallels-The Imprints of pre-Parallel and Parallel (the story) Naruto. They are still two separate Imprints because the respective personalities were so different in both times.

Twin Mind-The Haruno family are distant extensions of the Magami Clan. Their Twin Mind Blood Limit is a rough copy of the Magami Clan’s Spirit Voice ability. The Twin Mind is basically a copy of the original mind that is the idealized version of the original mind, or is formed from repressed traits. It provides a Haruno with marginal protection from the Yamanaka Clan’s mind techniques and also provides them with immunity against the Magami Clan’s Spirit Voice Techniques. Because a bearer of the Twin Minds basically has two minds, their initial ability with chakra control and concentration and memory are doubled.

Yochigan-The Prediction Eye is the bloodline limit of the Kazama Clan. The Yochigan is commonly called the All Seeing Eye, though it is a moniker more often associated with the Byakugan.

Spirit Voice-The Spirit Voice technique can be considered a low level compulsion genjutsu. One synchronizes one’s chakra with that of the target, then imbues the voice with the synchronized chakra as you give the command or advice. The Spirit Voice is a Magami Clan technique that can be used by non-Magami as is indicated in the few times that it’s used by an Oracle.

Shinigami Eyes-A Magami has the ability to see spirits of the deceased. Naruto’s ability to see the dead is enhanced by the Kazama Clan’s innate cognitive abilities, and augmented by the Kyuubi’s own spiritual awareness.

Naruto’s eyes were sad as he watched Orochimaru perform Edo Tensei to resurrect the Shodai and Nidaime.

“How sad,” he murmured, “To think that you would go this far for power… If you had only remained loyal to Konoha, and set aside your ambitions for more worldly dreams…. Then you would have been a good choice to be one of the privileged few in the Oracle’s service…”

The Sandaime gave Naruto a surprised look. “What?”

“I will explain later,” Naruto said gently, “first of all, we must stop your former student.” Naruto lifted his hands and laced his fingers into the ram seal and closed his eyes.

“Oh, thou bright flame cloaked in shadow,” he whispered, “Open from ages past to ages present Fate’s window, Be fire in silence burning, Be wind in forest roaring, Be water in ocean flowing, Be wood in hills growing, Be earth in hills rolling, Be lighting in sky striking, Spear tip silver glowing and wartime showing!” Naruto’s chakra roiled and danced and formed blue wings sprouting from his shoulder blades, the chakra pinions reaching to the sky, arching upwards over the blonde’s head. His eyes snapped open, glowing gold as brightly glowing blood cascaded down his face, “ast intruding upon the present, return from whence you came!”

The chakra forming the wings shot forward and impaled the resurrected Shodai and Nidaime, and the two souls were forcibly ejected from the vessels. As the vessels fell forward, the souls of the Shodai and Nidaime gave Sarutobi and Naruto an apologetic look before fading away. The images of the Shodai and Nidaime fell to dust, revealing Kin and Zaku for a brief moment, their faces frozen by death in twin expressions of pain and terror before the two hapless genin’s bodies crumpled away into dust as well. Naruto closed his eyes and stepped back.

“I’ve done all that I can to even the odds,” he said calmly, “This is as far as I can physically change Fate’s Tapestry. The rest, Sandaime-sama, is up to you.”

“Of course,” Sarutobi said as he settled into a ready stance. “I could not in good faith ask more of the Oracle when you’ve given up so much of your time for us.”

Naruto smiled sadly as his Yochigan became a single golden slit against milky cerulean. “The Hokage of Konoha never asks more from the Oracle, even when it may mean the difference between life and death,” he murmured. “But then again, if the Hokage was ever inclined to ask for more than what the Oracle is inclined to give, then Konoha would not have an Oracle to guide them. Good luck, Sandaime Hokage-sama.”
